Big Mama E and the Cool is a five piece rock & roll band from Raleigh, NC. They play original music with a southern R&B influence. The band has been performing in the Triangle area since 1997. They have completed two full length studio recordings, and have been traveling throughout the southeast to play their music and make new friends. The band continues to write and perform new songs to share with their audience. Big Mama E and the Cool is: Emma Davis on vocals; Olly Roberts on bass, acoustic guitar and vocals; Ken Weigand on guitar, bass and vocals; Mike Edwards guitar and Dan Davis drums. This band has many combined years of professional experience and a passion for playing their version of great rock & roll!
The Band released their self-titled debut CD in April of 1998. Since then, they have performed locally at The Berkeley Café, Tir Na Nog, The Brewery, The Blue Bayou, Exploris IMAX and The Lincoln Theatre. They were repeat performers at the 1999 Special Olympics. Another big highlight was performing on the Levi’s stage at Alltel Pavilion to kick off the BB King Blues Festival in the fall of 2000. Big Mama E and the Cool released their sophomore effort, “High Maintenance” in June, 2002. BME has enjoyed playing at many locations in the state with shows at the Lazy Daze Festival in Cary, a repeat performance at the Sound Country Festival in Edenton, the Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro, Festifall and Apple Chill in Chapel Hill, Peasant’s in Greenville, Wheeler’s in Fayetteville, the Barbecue Festival in Lexington, Artsplosure in Raleigh and the Blue Bayou in Hillsborough, N.C.
2005 brings yet another exciting year for BME. The band is currently working on their third studio effort produced by BME w/Paul Cooper…set for Spring release, ’06! |
